Earrings with amethyst
Signed by Paloma Picasso
What an amazing color these amethyst earrings have! A violet variety of quartz that I can just get lost in. The name comes from the Ancient Greek and means (“intoxicated”), which is exactly what this jewelry does to me. It was once believed that the semi-precious stone would protect its owner from drunkenness. And that is why the ancient Romans and Greeks wore it. They even made drinking vessels of them, believing that it would prevent intoxication. It is a birthstone for February – and given the weather we’re having, I suggest you get these gorgeous earrings at auction and then proceed to celebrate with some champagne! You’ll be doubly protected after all!
